Sri Lanka, March 2 -- Three suspects were taken into custody by police for allegedly importing a large quantity of hashish hidden in electric appliances, at Kochchikade in Negombo on Thursday.

The seized illegal drugs are worth almost Rs. 7.8 million. According to the police, the arrest was made by the Divisional Crime Investigation Unit of Peliyagoda-North Police after a tip-off received from a police decoy.

The police seized the hashish while the stock was hidden in television sets, ovens and several mobile phones. One suspect, 41, is a resident of Dougles Estate, Yatiyana in Minuwangoda.
