Srilanka, March 31 -- The Colombo Grand Mosque has announced that a new moon for the month of Shawwal was sighted. Therefore "Eid-ul-Fitr" Ramadan Festival will be celebrated today (31).

The decision was taken at a meeting attended by President of the All Ceylon Jammiyyathul Ulama (the Supreme Council of Muslim Theologians of Sri Lanka) Ash Sheik M.I.M. Rizvi Mufthi, Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs Director M.S.M. Nawas and Colombo Grand Mosque President Thahir Razeen were present in the evening after Maghrib prayers at the Colombo Grand Mosque.

Special prayers will be held at all mosques for peace, harmony, tolerance, understanding and brotherhood and also for the people of Palestine.
