Srilanka, April 1 -- Badulla District MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake has been further remanded in connection with one of three corruption charges against him.
The Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court ordered his remand extension until April 8, 2025.
The MP is accused of causing a Rs. 23 million loss to the government by withdrawing fixed deposits from a state bank.
Dassanayake was arrested by the Bribery Commission on March 27 after providing a statement regarding the allegations.
Initially facing three corruption charges related to his tenure as a State Minister, he was released on two charges but remains in custody for the third.
