Srilanka, Feb. 26 -- "On an average every year nine languages become extinct, and that means every 40 days a language is lost forever from this earth," said High Commissioner for Bangladesh, Andalib Elias. The High Commissioner said this on the 21st of February at the Independence Square on International Mother Language Day. Bangladesh has been observing this day everywhere, with very close collaboration with the host country. International Mother Language Day is indeed a global event now. Bangladesh Embassies and High Commissions all over the world celebrate it in close collaboration with the host government, the UN organisations, and different educational institutions.
