Sri Lanka, Nov. 26 -- Expressing her views further during the debate MP Rohini Kumari Wijeratne said:"In 2009, there were demonstrations demanding that 6 percent of the GDP be allocated to education. Thousands of man-hours of university students and faculty were wasted in support of that demand. But this Government has allocated only two percent to education. 70 percent of the education sector voted for this Government to allocate at least 6 percent for education.

"This will go down in history as the Government that could not spend even 20 percent of the capital that the budget allocated to education. A large number of people in the education sector have been deceived. This is why education reforms are needed. Our attitudes must change. ...
