Sri Lanka, July 1 -- Muslims here form an integral part of the nation, and they will be well looked after along with other minority communities in the island, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said on Monday.

He was speaking at a meeting of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Muslim Federation of Sri Lanka headed by its National Leader Ali Sabry, PC.

The SLPP and Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) local government bodies Muslim members participated. The event was at the Rosewood Banquet Hall in Dehiwela.

SLPP Muslim Wing National Organizer A.L.M. Uwais Hajiar, former ministers Susil Premjayantha, Gamini Lokuge, G.L Peiris and Faiszer Mustapha and President's Counsel Razeek Zarook addressed the gathering.
