Sri Lanka, Jan. 30 -- The Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation has dismissed recent media reports claiming that the former Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd (AASL), Air Chief Marshal (Retd.) Harsha Abeywickrama, was removed due to a disagreement involving a Buddhist prelate.Sri Lanka travel guide

Some media outlets had suggested that Abeywickrama's departure was linked to a request by the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Mahabodhi Society, Ven. Banagala Upatissa Thero, regarding the extension of a special airport entry permit. However, the Ministry issued a formal clarification stating these reports are "completely false."
