Sri Lanka, Feb. 12 -- Transport, Highways and Urban Development Minister Bimal Rathnayake launched the strategically important Avarankal - Thondamanaru Road Development Project at the Achchuveli Central Bus Stand on Wednesday (11).

The project is implemented under the Government's Path to Rebirth (Punarudayata Maga) initiative, using public funds to strengthen road networks in the country. This road will be reconstructed over a distance of 6.03 kilometres at an estimated cost of Rs. 680 million, excluding taxes. Construction work is being fast-tracked and is scheduled for completion by May 12, 2027, after which the road will be reopened for public use.
