Sri Lanka, July 19 -- Despite ongoing protests and opposition, Minister of Agriculture, Lands, and Irrigation K.D. Lal Kantha reaffirmed the government's commitment to removing all unauthorized constructions in designated tank reserves across the country.
Speaking on the issue, the Minister emphasized that the effort is part of a national initiative to protect vital water catchment areas and historical irrigation systems. As a first step, the government launched a boundary-marking program today, starting with the Kandy Lake Reserve, in collaboration with the Irrigation Department.
