Srilanka, April 8 -- The Meteorology Department yesterday predicted intense heat for some areas and heavy showers for some other areas in the next few days.

Heat index, the temperature felt on human body is likely to increase up to 'Caution level' at some places in Northern, North-Central and Eastern Provinces and in Monaragala district.

On the apparent northward relative motion of the sun, it is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka during April 5 to 14 in this year. The nearest areas of Sri Lanka over which the sun is overhead yesterday (7) were Colombo, Awissawella, Talawakelle, Dimbula, Galakumbura and Dambagalla at about 12.12 noon.
