Sri Lanka, Jan. 19 -- The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) has announced that the medical strike in government hospitals across the Eastern Province, which was temporarily paused for the Thai Pongal festival, will resume today (19).

The strike will be in effect from 8:00 a.m. in all government hospitals in the province.

The GMOA stated that the action is continuing as the government has not addressed their demands.

The strike, which began last Tuesday, involves doctors calling for the removal of the Medical Superintendent of Akkaraipattu Base Hospital and a fair investigation into the allegations made against him.
