Sri Lanka, Dec. 31 -- Kasun Munasinghe, the Chairman of the Matugama Pradeshiya Sabha, has surrendered to the police following allegations that he assaulted the secretary of the same local authority.
According to reports, Munasinghe surrendered to the Matugama Assistant Superintendent of Police.
The chairman, who is affiliated with the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, is accused of attacking the Pradeshiya Sabha secretary during an argument over a council project.
The incident reportedly occurred yesterday (30) morning when the chairman visited the premises where the secretary was stationed. Following the altercation, the secretary sustained injuries and was admitted to the Matugama Weththewa Hospital for treatment.
