Sri Lanka, Feb. 6 -- The Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) has handled the highest ever passenger movements in 2025, the Airport and Aviation Services Company said.

The airport which opened in 2013 recorded the highest number of passenger movements, 140,614 in 2025. The Mattala International Airport had handled 703 international flights in 2025.

The Airport and Aviation Services Company said there has been a continuous increase in passenger handling over the past three years and special attention paid to Mattala Airport after the new Government assumed duties has been a major reason for handling this record number of passengers.
