Sri Lanka, Aug. 21 -- Skeletal remains belonging to at least 88 people were discovered during excavations of a mass grave inside the Colombo Port complex, officials have confirmed.
The third phase of excavations, which had been temporarily halted, has now resumed.
The work is being supervised by Colombo Additional Magistrate Kasun Kanchana Dissanayake and guided by Senior Professor of Archaeology Raj Somadeva, a national expert in mass grave excavations.
Medical and scientific examinations have been entrusted to Specialist Forensic Doctor Sunil Hewage.
