Many policemen suffer from NCDs, stress - Acting IGP
Sri lanka, July 21 -- Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) SDIG Priyantha Weerasuriya stated that between 20 to 40 percent of police officers suffer from non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and another 30 percent remain untested."Many are impacted by stress from work and personal challenges. As duties and expectations on the police force increase, it is essential that their efforts are recognised and compensated accordingly," he said.He made these remarks during a school equipment distribution to children of police officers at the Ratnapura District Secretariat Auditorium on Saturday.
