Sri Lanka, Oct. 6 -- A person who allegedly defrauded two individuals by accepting a sum of Rs. 500,000 from them on the pretext of providing them with jobs in Canada was arrested by the Biyagama Police in the Biyagama area on Saturday (4).
It is said that the suspect committed the fraud by working as an intermediary with a foreign employment agency in the Biyagama area.
The suspect had obtained Rs. 300,000 from one person in the Mawanella area and Rs. 250,000 from another person in February, claiming to be sending it to Canada, and then absconded.
The suspect had previously resided in the Aranayake area. He later moved to the Tissamaharama area.
