Sri Lanka, Nov. 24 -- Customs Narcotics Control Division officers arrested a 25-year-old Malaysian national for attempting to smuggle a consignment of cocaine worth Rs. 250 million into Sri Lanka. The arrest took place at the arrival terminal of Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake on the night of November 23.

The suspect had arrived from Abu Dhabi on Etihad Airways flight EY-396 at 8:20 p.m.

During a search, officers discovered 5 kilograms of cocaine, prepared in capsules, hidden inside a tin of chocolates in his handbag.

Further investigations are underway, and the Malaysian national, along with the seized cocaine, will be handed over to the Katunayake Airport Police Narcotics Bureau for legal proceedings.
