Sri Lanka, Dec. 15 -- A major drug trafficker who allegedly imported a stock of "Kush" valued at Rs. 216.68 million from Bangkok, Thailand, has been arrested following a prolonged surveillance operation by the Katunayake Airport Police Narcotics Bureau last night (14).

The suspect, a 34-year-old resident of Wattala, is believed to be a key figure in a network that smuggles narcotics into Sri Lanka by using different individuals as carriers.

Investigations revealed that on the 13th, the suitcase containing the narcotics was handed over to another person, removed from the Katunayake Airport, and transported to the suspect's residence.

The trafficker himself had arrived from Bangkok yesterday (14) carrying only a handbag.
