Sri Lanka, Feb. 18 -- The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court that former First Lady Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe has been summoned to provide a statement this Friday, February 20.

The summons is part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged misuse of state funds by former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The inquiry specifically examines the use of approximately Rs. 16.9 million in public money to fund a 2023 visit to the United Kingdom, where the former President reportedly attended a university graduation ceremony for Professor Wickremesinghe.
