Srilanka, May 26 -- The Colombo Magistrate's Court today (26) granted bail to former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, who is currently in remand over allegations related to the import of a substandard organic fertilizer ship during the previous government.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali issued the bail order after hearing arguments from both the Bribery Commission and the defense counsel.
The court set a cash bail of Rs. 50,000 along with five sureties of Rs. 1 million each, specifying that two of the sureties must be close relatives of the suspect.
Additionally, Mahindananda Aluthgamage was prohibited from leaving the country, with the court ordering the surrender of his passport.
