Srilanka, May 14 -- Former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage filed a petition today (May 14) before the Colombo Magistrate's Court, seeking anticipatory bail to avoid arrest by the Bribery Commission.

The petition relates to an investigation into the alleged importation of a substandard shipment of organic fertilizer during the previous government.

Following the submission, Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali issued notice to the Bribery Commission, instructing it to present its position before the court on May 19.
