Sri Lanka, July 14 -- The Lankan Premier League (LPL), which was scheduled to be played from August 8 to 20, is likely to be a doubtful starter due to the escalation of the COVID-19 Pandemic, which has affected several related avenues, including the closure of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

This prestigious T-20 tournament which was to involve five teams, including a maximum of six overseas players, was scheduled to commence soon after the General Elections on August 5. Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and to the uncertainty of the spreading of this virus, the SLC is likely to postpone the tournament to a later date, probably in the month of September.
