Srilanka, May 9 -- The Ministry of Public Administration has announced the temporary closure of all slaughterhouses, meat shops, and meat sections in supermarkets across Sri Lanka in observance of the upcoming state Vesak Festival.
Additionally, entertainment establishments such as casinos, race bookies, and clubs will also remain closed during this period.
As per a circular issued on April 29, the restrictions will be in place from May 12 to May 14, 2025. The Ministry has instructed all relevant authorities, institutions, and businesses to strictly adhere to the directive in keeping with the spiritual and cultural significance of Vesak.
