Sri Lanka, Feb. 12 -- Skipper Charith Asalanka played a superb, fighting knock of 127 after Sri Lanka's top order struggled, leading his team to a remarkable 49-run victory over Australia in their first ODI at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium yesterday.
The left-hand all-rounder Asalanka showcased his resilience with his fourth ODI century, three centuries of which came at this same venue. Sri Lanka's spinners Maheesh Theekshana, Dunith Wellalage, Wanindu Hasaranga, along with paceman Asitha Fernando, did the damage as Australia collapsed for 165 in 33.5 overs while chasing a target of 215.
