Sri Lanka, April 3 -- The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has taken legal action against 23 supermarkets across the country during the special raids and investigation programme commenced recently to prevent consumer exploitation during the festive season.

This programme launched by the CAA, focusing on identifying and addressing issues like expired goods, altered information, and inflated prices will be continued until April 25.

Out of those supermarkets, 16 supermarkets have been charged by the CAA for selling expired goods and the rest were charged for not displaying the prices of products offered for sale, selling products at higher prices, misleading consumers and selling products without the information required on the products.
