Sri Lanka, May 3 -- Steps have been taken to file cases against 28 dengue breeding sites in the Ratnapura Municipal Council area.
Red notices also have been issued to 135 other locations, which are vulnerable for dengue breeding, said Sabaragamuwa Provincial Health Services Director Dr. Kapila Kannangara.
"Currently, the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Health Services Office has taken steps to take legal action against 28 places where dengue larvae were found in the Ratnapura Municipality area," he said.
Dr. Kannangara also stated that as of January 2025, about 1,700 dengue patients have been reported from the Ratnapura district, of which about 515 were reported in the Ratnapura Municipal Council area alone.
