Srilanka, March 19 -- Lanka Sathosa has announced price reductions for eight essential items to provide relief to consumers for the upcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year. Lanka Sathosa Chairman Samitha Perera said the items with reduced prices include B onions, Garlic, potatoes, canned fish, brown sugar, red lentils, wheat flour and white cowpea.
Accordingly, the price of white cowpea, previously sold at Rs.795 per kilogram, has been reduced by Rs.45, bringing the new price to Rs.750. B onions, which were priced at Rs.185 per kilogram, are now Rs.160 after a reduction of Rs.25. The price of Garlic has been lowered by Rs. 20 per kilogram, making the new price Rs.575.
