Sri Lanka, Oct. 30 -- The Ministry of Finance and Planning stated that Sri Lanka's tax revenue had increased by more than 32 percent by the end of the third quarter of this year (January 1, 2025 to September 30, 2025) compared to the same period of the previous year.
The increase in tax revenue has been mainly due to the increase in Value Added Tax (VAT) collected on imports of vehicles from abroad, an increase in excise revenue and an increase in tax revenue collected by Customs. Accordingly, by the end of September this year, tax revenue has increased by 32.5% compared to the previous year and has increased to Rs. 3,563 billion.
