Sri Lanka, Dec. 6 -- Lanka Ashok Leyland has donated vehicles valued at Rs. 65 million (excluding VAT) to the Government of Sri Lanka to strengthen ongoing disaster relief and recovery operations.

The company, of which 41% of shares are held by Lanka Leyland under the Ministry of Industries, handed over the vehicles at a ceremony held today (06) at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo.

India's High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha, Deputy Minister of Defence Aruna Jayasekara, Lanka Ashok Leyland Chairman Milton Amarasinghe, Chief Executive Officer Umesh Gautam, and several other company officials were present at the event.

The donation is expected to support the government's efforts to rebuild affected communities across the country....
