Sri Lanka, Dec. 11 -- Nuwara Eliya District Secretary Thushari Tennakoon announced that four roads, including the Kandy-Nuwara Eliya road, which were blocked by landslides caused by heavy rains, have now been restored to normal.

Speaking at a media briefing at the Nuwara Eliya District Secretariat yesterday (10), Tennakoon stated that heavy vehicles will be allowed on these roads following recommendations from the National Building Research Organization.

The Nuwara Eliya-Kandy main road, previously blocked by landslides at several locations including Katukithula, Thawalantenna, and Ramboda Ella, was reopened to traffic a fortnight ago.
