Sri Lanka, Dec. 15 -- The Nawalapitiya-Kandy main road, which was damaged by a landslide caused by Cyclone Ditwa, has reopened to traffic after 18 days of repair work.

The fallen soil has been cleared, and authorities report that the road has been made safe for vehicles until a permanent solution is implemented, as there remains a risk of landslides above the road. Drivers have been urged by the Road Development Authority (RDA) to exercise caution while using the road. Restrictions have also been imposed on the movement of heavy vehicles along this stretch.
