Sri Lanka, Nov. 19 -- Train operations on the Upcountry line have been restricted to the stretch between Colombo Fort and Nanu Oya after a landslide caused the night mail train from Badulla to derail near both Ohiya and Idalgashinna Railway Stations last evening.

The train, which departed Badulla at 6.00 p.m. heading to Colombo Fort, came off the tracks when soil and debris from the landslide blocked the railway line. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

According to railway officials, this incident follows another derailment yesterday morning, involving a train travelling from Kandy to Badulla that also went off the tracks at the Ohiya Railway Station.
