Sri Lanka, Oct. 23 -- Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd.) announced that more than 700 acres of land in Sri Lanka's Northern and Eastern Provinces have been released to the public so far this year.
Addressing Parliament today, Deputy Minister Jayasekara stated that between January 1, 2025, and the present date, a total of 672.24 acres of land in the Northern Province have been handed back to the public.
This includes 86.24 acres of private land and 586 acres previously utilized by the military.
He further noted that in the Eastern Province, an additional 34.58 acres of government-owned land have also been released.
