Sri Lanka, March 15 -- Approximately 10 percent of the Sri Lankan population is afflicted with kidney-related ailments, consultant Nephrologist & adviser to SLKPA Association Dr. Sanjaya Heiyanthuduwa said.

He further said that there has been a notable increase in the burden of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in the country. According to data from 2020, a total of 164,000 individuals were diagnosed with CKD. He made these observations at the National ceremony to mark World Kidney Day held yesterday under the patronage of Health Minister Dr. Ramesh Patirana at New Town Hall, Borella.
