Srilanka, April 28 -- The water canal at Kala Wewa is undergoing urgent repairs due to a long-standing leak, but authorities have assured that there is no danger to the reservoir or the downstream areas.

This assurance came from Deputy Minister of Lands and Irrigation, Susil Ranasinghe, and Kala Wewa Engineer-in-Charge, Buddhika Mahesh Navaratne.

In recent days, concerns have been raised by environmentalists, the Maha Sangha, and local residents, who have spread news via social media and other platforms about a water leak near the outer outlet of Kala Wewa, one of Sri Lanka's largest reservoirs.
