Sri Lanka, Dec. 6 -- Julie Hope of Cyclone Aquatics, based in Dubai, lit up the National and Junior National Short Course Swimming Championship by setting her third junior national record by the end of the second day of the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) conducted competition continued at Isipathana College Swimming Pool in Colombo yesterday.
Hope, the Dubai-based swimmer, training with Janaka Prasad's Colombo Swimming Academy, broke the Under-15 Girls 200m Freestyle record with a stunning time of 2:14.69, smashing the previous mark of 2:18.20 set by Hiruki de Silva of Gateway College in 2019. Earlier, she had clocked 2:17.66 in the preliminaries before improving by three seconds in the finals to clinch the new record.
