Sri Lanka, Jan. 31 -- St Joseph's College Colombo claimed the championship title at the Novices Swimming Championship, ending a 14-year drought, while St Bridget's Convent won the girls' title for the second consecutive year. The championship, organized by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU), concluded at the Sugathadasa Stadium Aquatic Complex in Colombo.
St Joseph's College had not won the novices-level national championship since 2011. This year, under coach Praneeth Harindra, the team, comprising just four players, proved their mettle and emerged as the champions. The team collected an impressive haul of four gold medals, two silver medals, and a fourth-place finish, which secured their victory.
