Srilanka, March 8 -- Senior Police officers in Jaffna have commenced investigations into an incident in which the son of a Police officer in Jaffna is alleged to have accepted a bribe of Rs. 20,000.
This bribe had been obtained because the police officer's son intervened and the Police did not proceed when they were about to file a case against a person who had been driving under the influence of alcohol.
The young man had obtained the bribe by selling his father's name and claiming that his father could do anything within the Jaffna Police.
However, after the Police filed a case against the driver, he had been fined Rs. 25,000 and his driving licence had been revoked for a period of nine months. The driver had come later to the Jaffna...
