Sri Lanka, Oct. 1 -- The Dedicated Economic Centre for Jaffna in Madduvil, long abandoned despite its high potential, was reopened yesterday (September 30), under the leadership of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources Minister Ramalingam Chandrasegar.
Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe, Northern Province Governor N. Vethanayahan, and MPs K. Ilangkumar, S. Sribavanandarajah and J. Rajeevan also attended.
The reopening included the formal commencement of wholesale trading activities at the Centre, which is expected to serve as a hub for Agricultural produce and Commerce in the Northern Province.
