Sri Lanka, Nov. 20 -- The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has achieved the highest tax revenue collection in its history for 2025, with total collections reaching Rs. 2,002,241 million as of 17 November.
According to a statement issued by Commissioner General of Inland Revenue Rukdevi P. H. Fernando, this figure marks an increase of Rs. 60,079 million compared to the total revenue collected in 2024. The IRD exceeded last year's full-year revenue of Rs. 1,942,162 million within the first eleven months of 2025.
The Department stated that the achievement represents a major contribution to strengthening the Government's financial position and reflects continued improvement in national revenue mobilisation.
