Sri Lanka, Feb. 28 -- Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala stated in Parliament on February 28 that investigations into 500 corruption cases submitted to the court by the Anti-Corruption Secretariat under the previous Good Governance Government were obstructed by then-President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
He revealed that as the former director of the secretariat, he oversaw the preparation of 1,200 case files based on complaints from state institutions, organizations, and the public. However, he alleged that a political deal prevented the 500 cases submitted to the court from being examined.
