Srilanka, Feb. 18 -- The Thebuwana Police are investigating an incident where a 44-year-old husband allegedly burned his 28-year-old wife with a hot wire.

The incident, which occurred on February 14, went unreported initially as the wife feared her husband's wrath. However, the husband's father, upon learning of the abuse, contacted the 119 police emergency unit on February 17. Following this, Sub-Inspector Wijayaratne from the Children and Women's Bureau conducted an investigation and had the victim admitted to Nagoda Teaching Hospital in Kalutara.

Authorities report that the suspect has fled the area and efforts to apprehend him are ongoing. The Thebuwana Police continue their investigation into the matter.
