Srilanka, May 29 -- The Department of Motor Transport's investigation report has recommended holding the Kataragama Depot and the Road Development Authority accountable for the tragic bus accident in Garandiella, Kotmale, which resulted in 23 deaths and 60 injuries.
While the driver's momentary lapse due to restlessness and falling asleep was identified as the primary cause, the report emphasizes that the driver alone is not to blame.
The six-member committee of motor vehicle inspectors submitted their findings to the Ministry of Transport on May 27, following the early morning accident on May 11.
