Srilanka, Feb. 14 -- Intelligence agencies are currently gathering information on police officers who own properties that far exceed what could be accumulated through their salaries and allowances. Investigations have revealed that some of these properties are registered under the names of close family members, raising suspicions of bribery, corruption, and fraud.
An intelligence officer noted that while lower-ranking officers rarely own significant assets, it is the higher-ranking officers who possess substantial wealth and properties. Some of these officers reportedly live in luxurious houses resembling palaces-far beyond what their police salaries could realistically afford.
