Sri Lanka, Nov. 4 -- All rounder Deepti Sharma and opener Shafali Verma guided India to a historic 52-run victory over South Africa which saw the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 hosts lift the trophy for the first time at Navi Mumbai on Sunday. India became the first Asian country to take the women's World Cup while Harmanpreet Kaur was the first Indian captain to receive the world cup. The win not only delivered India their maiden ICC Women's World Cup but also ushered in a new era for the sport in the country. Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and former Skipper Rohit Sharma also witnessed this great victory.
