Srilanka, April 7 -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed that the bilateral 'Debt Restructuring Agreement' between India and Sri Lanka will provide immediate assistance and relief to the people of Sri Lanka.

The Indian Prime Minister in his press statement on Saturday also said a decision had been taken during his visit to reduce interest rates for Sri Lanka.

"In the last six months alone, we have converted loans worth more than US$ 100 million into grants. Our bilateral 'Debt Restructuring Agreement' will provide immediate assistance and relief to the people of Sri Lanka. Today we have also decided to reduce interest rates. It symbolises that even today, India stands with the people of Sri Lanka," he added.
