Sri Lanka, Aug. 1 -- The Government of India has released the first installment, amounting to around US$ 2.5 million(approximately LKR 770 million), for the installation of an advanced signalling and telecommunication system along the Maho-Anuradhapura Railway Line. This marks another key milestone in India-Sri Lanka cooperation in the railway sector, a news release from the Indian High Commission in Colombo said.
The project was jointly launched by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Anura Kumara Dissanayake during the high-level visit in April 2025.
