Sri Lanka, Dec. 3 -- The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has reported that 156 of the 343 pumping stations belonging to them have been partially or completely damaged due to the adverse weather conditions across the island.
Chairman of the NWSDB, Chandana Bandara, said that 126 of the damaged pumping stations have been restored to normal.
Chandana Bandara said that about 30 more pumping stations are being repaired, and that the Meewathura pumping station in particular is expected to be operational today.
He also said that the Meewathura pumping station will be operational and will provide water supply to Pilimathalawa and Gelioya.
