Sri Lanka, April 4 -- In a step towards enhancing public service accessibility, the Immigration and Emigration Department will soon open a regional branch in Jaffna. This decision comes after a proposal was made at the District Coordination Committee (DCC) meeting, held under the leadership of the President on January 31, in Jaffna.
On April 1, the proposal was presented at the Cabinet meeting by Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananda Wijepala. The Cabinet approved the establishment of the Jaffna branch, which will be located in the premises of the Jaffna District Secretariat and is expected to be functional this month.
