Sri Lanka, Jan. 26 -- Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasuriya said recent clashes involving three-wheeler drivers affiliated with PickMe and Uber were caused by disputes initiated by professional three-wheeler owners, and such actions will not be tolerated. He added that the country's general law will be strictly enforced.

Tensions erupted in several parts of the country in December 2025, including Ella, after three-wheeler owners protested against drivers registered with ride-hailing platforms. Some of the incidents disrupted public order.
